EMMA WILSON WINS SOMETHING BIGGER THAN JUST THE GAMES!

Writer's picture: Team OTCTeam OTC

We have a real treat for you this week! Hot from her astonishing win at the iQfoil Games we are lucky enough to hear from the one and only double Olympian Emma Wilson! Anyone that has watched her journey will understand the importance of this win!

Emma dominated throughout the week, entering the Grand Final as the Opening Series leader. She started with a win as a reward for her consistent performance and secured her second win in the Grand Final, enough for her to claim the victory. Emma is back where she belongs on the top spot of the podium and back at the top mentally and physically. Her strength is palpable and she rises like a phoenix from the flames. All of us at The Offficial Test Centre are unbelievably proud of her and her determination, drive, devotion and desire! She blew the competition out of the water and her smile says it all. Emma is back, stronger, confident and ready for the year ahead, keep smashing it! Emma Wilson wins something bigger than just the games!

Emma Wilson is No 1!

The first time you used the new sails? How did it feel?

Emma said: "The new sails are nice, to be honest it was quite handy having a smaller sail as it was pretty windy all week!! But yeah I think it will be fun with the smaller sails, it seems a bit better suited for the women and feels like we can push the equipment a bit more."

Emma's champagne moment!

The first iQFOiL International Games of the season has come to an exciting close! You must feel all sorts of emotions? After the Paris Olympics has this given you the boost you needed?

Emma said: "I’m super happy. I wasn’t expecting to win, I went it to the regatta with a few goals but I really wasn’t thinking about the result. I just wanted to enjoy windsurfing and show what I can do. I’m really happy to have done what I did this week and I felt like I won something bigger than just a race, it wasn’t easy after the games and I think to win this regatta and put everything behind me , I’m really proud and happy."

Emma Wilson
Happy to be back on top!

Five days of intense racing With strong winds, shifting conditions, and a new Medal Series format, the racing kept us on the edge of our seats until the very end! What was it like for you competing?

Emma said: "It was pretty tricky competing, the wind was super shifty and very windy. I don’t usually like the super strong wind as much but I felt like I made some big improvements so I’m very happy."

Emma Wilson
Oh buoy!

You won the Women’s Fleet you proved unstoppable throughout the week. How do you feel?

Emma said: "I’m happy, to be honest I just want to keep improving my windsurfing and push the limits of the sport. Whatever the result I want to keep pushing and do it with a smile."

Emma Wilson
Emma in her happy place!

Has this given you the confidence you needed for the LA Olympics?

Emma said: "I think so, I’ve proved to myself I can do it and I think that is a big step forward. It’s a nice way to start the year and I’m looking forward to see what else I can do."

The #1 iQFOiL International Games has set the tone for an exciting 2025 season. With athletes now heading back to their training bases, the focus shifts to the next major events: the #2 iQFOiL International Games in Cádiz from March 8 to 14 and the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Palma from March 28 to April 5.

This event not only marked the start of the new Olympic cycle but also had the new sails racing for the first time, with everybody enjoying the change, and tested a new Medal Series format, which proved a success in rewarding consistency.
