It was great to see you back on the water! After seven months! Can you talk us through what has happened over the past seven months? Your recovery?
Sam said: "Few days after the Olympics I suffered a really bad neck injury from someone jumping and landing on my head whilst I was in a crowd, and that escalated for 4 months to the point I couldn’t walk, see properly, use a screen or drive without severe intense pain. It was not good. It’s been a long difficult process of physio and rehabilitation, thanks to a physio friend of mine Paul Coker and few others around me."

What are your plans for upcoming competitions?
Sam said: "I’m still recovering but it was a nice first step to sail again."

How are you feeling?
Sam said: "I can’t really sugar coat it, it’s been horrific, but i’m focused on staying in a positive mindset and channeling that into recovery. Lately I started getting back into some design projects and that’s been nice to keep my mind balanced on other things."

What kept you motivated to recover?
Sam said: "Love of windsurfing and life!"

What are you looking forward to the most now you are back on the water?
Sam said: "I’m just Looking forward to doing what I love again, there’s still some hurdles to knock down before I’m really back, but we’re getting there."
